Why Facebook is destroying you?
Facebook is the world’s largest social networking site with over a billion users and the website itself costs $35 billion. Along with that, it helps you connect with friends and families. But why? I mean why it’s destroying your life and you?
#1 Changing Times
Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook in 2002, with the help of Edwardo Saverin, with the honest motive of connecting everyone in the Harward University to one single website, and he was success. Later on, he expanded his business from Harvard to universities like Stanford, BU, Reeds and finally to everyone.
Even 4 years ago, it felt like a party with no ending. The social fun goes on and on with no season finale. People gave mini-stories about their observations, shared cute photos and explained why they liked a movie or a song. The response among the friends was instant and thoughtful.
But now, the website has turned into a sexist Red Light District, where hundreds follow your friends and no one even bothers to bat an eye on you. Women get more preference than male, even though they post stupid things, men follow them, like the woman is a porn star.
The deprived ones ultimately becomes the depressed ones and which causes various ups and downs of his life. That’s true. In a recent experiment, it was found out that 67% of college students felt depressed after using the website.
#2 You’re being watched.
Facebook has now grown vulnerable to hacking. Even if they don’t do it, they can easily go into someone’s profile and steal their private information. For example, once happened, that an unknown identity took photos of a girl, created a fake account and announced her as a prostitute. The girl and her parents, couldn’t live with the shame of it and committed suicide.
So, in Facebook, you’ve to say bye-bye to your privacy.
#3 The Competition
Facebook is meant socializing with people, now it is a race track. With hundreds of people competing with each other on who writes the best post or shares the best photo on Christmas and who gets more likes. And if you lose, you start cramming on your laptop or smartphone.
I mean, hey you people, Christmas is about fun, not competing with each other!
#4 Distancing us from friends
Facebook has a crazy algorithm. It’s hard to define it but can be explained with an example. Suppose, one of my best buddies is X. I am so indulged in contacting with others, that I’ve forgot about X. Now, Facebook has algorithm, that if you don’t contact with someone for like six months, their posts automatically disappears from your feed. So, everything X has written is gone from my feed, and you think X has left Facebook. But you don’t care to pick up your phone and call X to know about him, because you are too indulged with your other friends.
#5 Advertising means a traitor
Facebook was meant to be an ad-free zone, but eventually it became an ad-filled zone. After every post, you see an ad. That what makes Zuckerberg rich and us irritated.
Final Notes
Without Facebook, how can we meet our friends? Well there’s a cuter alternative. It’s name is Path. Path is a growing social network with no ads and a secured privacy settings. Path is meant for friends who are really friends to you. Along with that, it gives a great interface and much more options to provide your thoughts. Others are Instagram and Twitter. Instagram is a lovely place to share photos come with a great interface. Along with that, there's WhatsApp for messaging your friends through their phone no.s which gives you a secure network.
Now it’s upto you. You wanna be friends or you wanna be depressed?
